Gratitude...the art of living a happy life
In November, there’s a great tradition in America for giving thanks. Families and friends make a point of getting together in their busy life to share a great meal and appreciate fine things in their lives. But why limit to just one day in the entire year for sharing our gratitude and appreciation?
Gratitude
and happiness go hand in hand. The more grateful we are for every small detail in life, the happier life becomes; and the happier we are in life, we find more things to be grateful for.
Whenever
you feel like you’ve lost your way to joy in your daily life, instead of complaining what is not working, look around you and start noticing all the things to be thankful for which have escaped from your attention.
Experience everything with awe and wonder like
a small child. Start observing yourself in every situation and go beyond the usual automatic reply of “thank you” when someone or something is obviously good and helpful. Notice the smallest wonder, beauty, magic and miracle in everything and express your gratefulness from the heart... go an extra mile to make the experience more tangible for others to feel. It may take only a moment for you to give a heart-warming smile, a few words of genuine appreciation, a quick thank you note, a hug, a phone call... but it can make a world of difference to them.
It’s good to be grateful in a general and abstract way like being grateful for life or thankful to God for the sun, moon, stars and this planet earth; however, in order to master
the art of happy life, we need to choose
to be grateful in every moment in every way. So don't hold back; be generous with your gratitude... and watch your anxieties and depressions melt away in joy and happiness.
Namaste.
Harmoniously,
